There's nothing quite as special as those first few weeks with your little one. And Im so grateful I have the opportunity to document this time in your life!
It's totally normal to feel nervous but my goal is to guide you doing what you already do so well and that is loving on your sweet baby.
We will have about 5 minutes together and I will guide you in a few poses.
Please read this guide and it will help you get the very BEST out of our time together. See you soon!
Welcome
A note about this guide
With love,
Danai
I think most of us feel this way at heart.
Luckily, not only are my micro sessions short and sweet, but they are also relaxed, and I fully guide you and your babe into beautiful ways of posing together.
Are you ready for some good news? You really don't need to do much! Besides simple outfit selection (which I cover in this guide), all I ask of you is to enjoy your experience. After all, the best part of appreciating the photos on your walls is knowing you had an awesome time getting them taken.
Now's the time to purchase that long flowy dress you have been wanting. Or go ahead and grab those jeans that make your behind look amazing, you know what I'm talking about! You deserve it!!
The colors you choose for your session are very important! I always recommend selecting lighter, neutrals tones. By avoiding colors such as red and darker colors or busy patterns, it will help bring all the attention to your faces and let the eye focus on the moments with your little one.
I have a very specific style and strive to be consistent with my images so you know exactly what kinds of photos you will be getting from your session (dreamy, light, airy, classic, timeless, and glowy).

When in doubt about a pattern, do the "squint test"—just look at it, squint your eyes, and if the clothing item looks like a solid color or close to it, it's good to go! If it still looks pretty busy and patterns can be easily distinguished, it's better to go with a more delicate pattern. Solid colors are always a safe bet, of course!
For your little one, simple is the key! Choose a light, solid-colored onesie, dress, skirt, or overalls and top. Keep colors to solid pastels and light neutrals.
Stay within the same color palette for accessories like socks and hair bows (avoid brights, neon, and dark colors). Solid, light-colored socks or booties work well for shoes, but really, bare baby feetsies are so sweet!
Just do a bit more than usual! If you don't usually wear make up, au naturale will be absolutely lovely; use a bit of foundation and mascara only if you wish!
If you paint your nails, choose a soft, neutral-for-you.
And yes to accessories if you love them! Add earrings, favorite rings, and bangles! If you have something meaningful you want to be part of your portraits, please bring it with you! You will LOVE seeing these details in your images!
And shoes? Feel free to wear shoes that that coordinate with your wardrobe, or just go barefoot! We'll be indoors, so bare feet will make sense!
Well, ideally you are headed home from your last Mom League session (sniff! But looking forward to lunches and playgroup!) and think, "That was super simple and painless! I wish we could have had more time!" My true hope for our time together, though short, is that your time with your little one was super sweet and easy.
On my end I will come home, and then start uploading your photos. From there I will need time to properly go through the images and edit them in my specific and unique style. Then, I will send you an email with a link to your gallery.
From there you will be able to view your photos and make selections for your digital collection as well as any artwork you wish to purchase.
